GRATEFULNESS!!!!!

This has been a busy month. Our daughter and family came in on the 8th to help get ready for the big 50th anniversary party on the 10th.
Our foster daughter Sheryl and her daughter came in on the 9th and some of Carolyn's bridesmaids came in as did my brother Neil. We were also blessed with Terry and family arriving in the evening of the 9th.

The big party was on the 10th and we had a great time with many old friends in attendance.I believe we had around 130 folks to help us celebrate. Todd and Jerry worked up a great slideshow that all enjoyed.
then Caleb,Daniel,Bethany and Elijah blessed us with some wonderful music.
Jeff and Brittany were so gracious to have a photograher come to take pictures. We are so thankful that this was a time that we had the whole family together for a picture. when I get the disc I will put some on the blog.
After the party we retired to our house for pizza and blue bell ice cream.A good time was had by all.
On the 11th I took Tami's family and Sheryl to the airport for the return home.

The next week was spent getting ready for the next big event-Thanksgiving- On the 19th Tami and family came back to help with all the thanksgiving prep. Thursday was the big day.Inlaws and outlaws totaled 30 for dinner on the 22nd. I smoked a turkey and Carolyn cooked one inside and she and Tami prepared all the fixing.
As we offered our thanksgiving prayer, some of the things people were thankful for were: our families, our country, those who weren't there including Ruby(Nane),Vivian(Mimi),and of course Joel, along with terry's whole family. Were were of course grateful for God's love and the gift of eternal life thru Christ.
Tami and family left to go back on the 24th.

Since I am at the real estate office and it is 5:17 I must call a halt to this epistle. Will add more and maybe some pic's in the next few days.
WE ARE BLESSED,
J.Morris

It's Golden!!!!

November 2,2007 was our 50th weddding anniversary. Plans have been finalized for our big party to celebrate on Saturday the 10th of November at Under The Oaks Wedding chapel in League City. We expect about a 100 folks to be there. Sheryl is flying in from Los Angelos and all the family should be there. A fun time is going to be had by all I'm sure.

I will now pick up where I left off last time we met: In 1966 we moved to Baytown where I assumed duties as Construction foreman in charge of building a cable TV system for General Telephone Co. We were there until 1969 when we moved to Weslaco and I assumed duties as Weslaco District Manager. We enjoyed our time in the Rio Grande Valley, as we made many trips across the border to shop and eat.
Then in 1971 I became the Dickinson Division Manager and we moved to League city. I think I will stop the history for now and continue at a later time.

Back in 2007, now Carolyn retired from United Space Agency on October 31. I am going to have to work smarter and harder to maike up for her reduced income. Right now I am writing this blog from the real estate office.

Let me end with this from Proverbs as I consider our big 50th: A virtuos woman is a crown to her husband: Carolyn has certainly been that to me these 50 years.

See you later,
J.Morris

Holiday for my birthday???

On October 8,1936 at 08:30AM at Kings daughters Hospital in Temple,Tx, a man child was born to Vivian Helms Morris and William Burnet Morris. They named him J.Helms Morris. He is now starting his 72nd year.

After graduating from Temple High School in 1955,he went one semester to Howard Payne College in Brownwood,Tx. Then attended Temple Jr college while working for the 7-11 stores.

A marrriage took place on November 2,1957 at the 7th Street Methodist church. J.Helms Morris married Carolyn Lynn Johnson. For a honeymoon the couple took off for Robstown,Tx where J.Helms and Carolyn both went to work for General telephone Company of the Southwest. J.Helms as a draftsman and Carolyn as a clerk.

While in Robstown from 1957-1962J.Todd Morris was born in 1959. Moving to League City in 1962,where Terry Neil Morris and Tami MarilynMorris was born in 1965.Many other events took place in the next 45 years and will be reviewed at a later time.

Let me leave you with some words of wisdom from Proverbs----"Lazy hands make a man poor, but dillgent hands bring wealth".

As for as the title of this little ditty--- The banks and post office took a holiday Monday to celebrate my birthday(well actually it was Columbus day).

That's all for now.

Missive for today.

The word of the day is MISSIVE- Meaning a written message,a letter.

Since my last missive was dated Sept.21 I think is time to pause and compose another.

My sept was busy,I did close a good real estate deal and I performed 6 weddings.

Right now I am at the real estate office and it is very slow as for as activity goes. I just read the latest blog from Joel's Journey. Makes me sad that I can not be with my coyle folks more often. We enjoy the pictures and keeping up with the doings on the farm.

Since carolyn is in her last month at United Space Alliance, I am researching all the Medicare possibilities. It is very confusing.

I talked with Hyden a few nights ago, he is still in the immigration prison waiting to be deported. Please pray for him and Detti and the two girls. It is a deplorible situation. He wants me to get a power of attorney done for Detti to give Carolyn and myself the power to dispose of his asstes.

Well it won;t be long till I have another birthday, my mother used to tell me that the older you get the faster the years go by. I didn't believe it then but I do now.

Today the 3rd, I went to the Indian reastaurant to have Indian food. I don't really enjoy eating any more with my teeth the way they are.It taakes me about 4 times as long to eat as other people. I think I'll just do milkshakes all the time.

Carolyn and I will really have to get on a tight budget beginning in November, since our income will be reduced quite a bit. No more airline tickets,we will be driving to see people. I think I might like seeing the country that way rather than 30000 feet in the air. Must go,putting pictures from the past for your enjoyment.

Over and out! J.Morris

Intrepid

The word of the day is for My grandsons Andrew and Joshua. the word means fearless, bold brave and courageous. They will be entering a youth rodeo tommorrow and will ride some bucking calves.

My how time flies, I haven't updated since 09/7/07 and was chastised by my grandaughter Anna, who by the way has a birthday on 9/24/07. I did get a card in mail in time.

On the weekend of the 8th we went to Temple to get a grave stone for Ruby and present two pictures of hers to the church. see the pix I enclosed.

Nothing much earth shaking since then, just did real estate and weddings on weekends.

On 9/19/07 I spent the day at a business expo put on by our chamber of commerce. see the pix.

All day at office today. Hope to have a closing of a large sale on Monday. You know it's hard being self employed,as my son Terry is finding out I'm sure.

Antiquarian

ANTIQUARIAN--\an-tuh-KWAIR-ee-un\,noun-- Aperson who deals in or collects old or rare books.

Do you know anyone like that. My wife of almost 50 years says that she is married to one.. We are going to have to enlarge the house to accomadate my books.

Sept 1 I worked at office and performed a wedding at 05:30PM

Sept 2 worled a few hours in realeste after church ttime.

Sept 3 everyone took off for labor day,but not Bayou Realtors. We were poen and I was at office answering phone which hardly rang.

Sept 4 was a big day, the oral surgeon cut my lower right bridgework out and extracted my wisdom tooth which anchored the bridge. needless to say I am eating soft food.

Sept 5 being today I am now caught up on posting.

How I would have liked to be in Coyle ,OK on the first day of school. My first day of school at Reagan in Temple in @1942 was not like that. What great memories are stored in 13 childrens memorie banks(one of course in Heaven).

Now I am going to post a few pix and hope I get them all right side up if you know what I mean Ernest.
the pix are of Carolyns yard of the month award and a tree that fell on todd's(uncle tooter) house.

The atelier

the word of the day for Monday 8/27 was atelier \at-I-YAY\, noun.
A workshop; a studio.

After reading this I wondered if Caleb and Daniel spent their BD in the atelier?

Since I have'nt had a posting since 8/18, I thought I better bring you up to date.
8/22 arrived at hospital at 8:00AM.
Dr T started the heart acath at 10:30AM and was finished at 11:40AM.
Left hospital for home at 5:15. I have to staay homebound for 48hrs.
Finally on Friday at noon I could drive,so I celebrated by going to get a hair cut.
Todd and Lynn both had birthdays,8/18 and 8/19 so we took them and courtney out on Saturday for seafood. I like a seafood diet (I see food and I eat it).
On Monday I had to do another blood test.
someone just came in and I will have to finish this later.

It is now later-8/31/2007 @ 1:30PM:
Yesterday was pretty uneventful, went to chamber of commerce function and a man was there and that made my day. His son who has some mental handicaps came to our bible school back in the early ninties at Bayou Baptist church. He was approximately 10-12 years old at the time. The family lives in Friendswood and were not members of our church,I don't know how they came to send him to our bible school, except by divine appt.
The young man wanted to accept Christ and be baptized.I talked with him at length and was sure he knew exactly what he was doing. His father was a little apprehensive and we had a long talk.He also felt his son understood what he was doing. He was baptized on the last night and seemed so at peace. I had not heard from him for 13-14 years. His father said he is doing great and is now 25 years old. the father said he would never forget the ministry to his precious son.that we did. Stories like that make it all worthwhile.

8/31/2007-- working at office as I write this epistle . Somehow I changed the script, and don't know how to change back.
As I read the last blog from "weloveyoujoel.blogspot.com" I realized what a supernal blessing all my family and grandchildren are. They are indeed the crown of this old man.

Recently I have been nostalgic. I was thinking the other day about my trip with Dr.David B. Davis amd Mike Clements to the Philipines. I am putting some pictures on from IloIlo city aand our week at Central Philipines christian University.

That's all for now folks.

Mastigate on this

I subsribe to doctor dictionary for the word of the day. Today the word is "mastigate" This means to grind or crush with the teeth. Since my bridge has gone bad I really have trouble when I mastigate hard food. everyone should try to improve their vocabulary.

The proverb of the day is 18:24. A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother, His name is Jesus.

48 years ago tommorrow,a little boy was born in Robstown, Texas. He only weighed 5lbs,2ounces. His parents worked for General Telephon co. I speak of J. and Carolyn Morris. The boys name--J.Todd Morris. My how he did grow to over 6'tall and 240lbs.

Here is a few more pictures from trip to Oklahoma.

Later we all went to the property that the crew is building a house. the property has a big lake,so some went boating and most everytone else went fishing. Jeremiah caugt a big bass and so did Caleb. Then at dark we roasted marshmellows. I almost forgot the 6 large pizzas and 5 half gallons of blue bell that diasappeard in a "New York minute".

Sunday was for the home church and then lunch. Later we went to view my 10 acres and the new fence that the boys put in so they could pasture for Elijahs herd.

At 1:00 PM on Monday we flew back to the home nest.
